Principal's Message

It is with great pleasure that I serve the students, parents, and community as the principal of the Mississippi School for the Blind.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education.  I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 21 years.  I have worked with students ranging in age from grades PK-12.  I am excited to bring my skills as an educational leader to the Mississippi School for the Blind and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work to build relationships with parents, students, and our community.  As a team, we will focus on innovative practices such as data driven instruction, individualized instruction, and a Multi-Tiered System of Supports to offer students the maximum educational outcomes.  We will provide consistent implementation of the Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards to increase student achievement and to ensure that each student is ready for college and/or a career.

All of us at the Mississippi School for the Blind are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever.  This year is going to be phenomenal as we continue to provide rigorous, relevant educational experiences for our students.  As your principal, I encourage you to become involved in the education of your child.  There are many opportunities for volunteers at our school.  I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student meet their goals and have a successful year!

Best Regards,
Mrs. Robin Acord, Principal
